Look for bombers, berets and baubles coming down the runway this season as the Fashion Week festivities commence. Designers and exclusive brands debuted their latest collections at New York Fashion Week, Toronto Men’s Fashion Week and Toronto Fashion Week recently. New York Fashion Week (NYFW) kicked us off in the north in the second week of February bringing us surprise guests, black and gold, and hippie nostalgia. Here at Max Agency, our favourite collections from NYFW are Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Anna Sui.
The Marc Jacobs collection gave us a paradoxical vintage = futuristic and graphic look with a playful mix of vintage and metallic textures and bold patterns. Our favourite piece was worn by a surprise guest model, Lady Gaga, who strut her stuff in an over sized coat with fur trim, pale green shirt and of course, a big bow tie with tall silver platform boots. This singer rocked the runway alongside supermodels such as Kendall Jenner.
Ralph Lauren brought us a variety of different looks, but the look that stole our hearts was a sexy black and gold number. His sensual matte-velvet evening dresses showed us that gold can be soft, form fitting and flowing in its original liquid state. Our favourite piece was a black turtleneck cropped top paired with a long gold skirt. The model looked angelic as she appeared to float on the catwalk.
Anna Sui’s collection was all 70’s hippie with an Anna Sui twist. Her collection was a mix of fur, floral and wild patterns in rich purples and blues. Our favourite look was a rich purple and red combination that opened the show. It was an interplay of two very popular colours this season.
When NYFW ended on February 18th, Toronto extended the excitement with Toronto’s Men Fashion Week (TOM,) and Toronto’s Fashion Week (TFW). TOM kicked off Toronto on February 18th and ended all runway shows last week with an incredible finale.
Fashion Week is not only about showcasing the latest works of fashion designers and exclusive brands, but also about spreading awareness about their latest charitable event, MensFashion4Hope Celebrity Walk-a-thon. Some of Toronto’s famous male celebrities, such as Fashion Santa (Paul Mason), walk the catwalk to raise funds for the Kol Hope Foundation for Children, which is a part of Sick Kids’ Hospital. This foundation’s aim is to improve the conditions and lives of children with congenital diseases. We can’t wait for the image releases of 3.Paradis, Hendrixroe and several others collection for 2016, especially when they are aiding such an important cause.
The third week of March wraps up this busy season with TFW. This four day event will bring us the latest trends in street wear to evening wear with designers such as Helder Diego, Rudsak and Stephan Caras.
Helder Diego, formerly known as Blak.I, is a lifestyle brand designed for contemporary modern day women. Their collections will bring us a range of fashion-forward, intricately cut separates, fluid dresses and cutting edge leather garments that can become staples in any stylish woman’s closet. Their brand focuses on making pieces that can be worn from season to season, making them the ideal brand for staple, must-have pieces.
Rudsak, known for his winter jackets, will bring us edgy yet elegant footwear, outerwear, apparel, bags and accessories grounded in the brand’s Canadian heritage and Montreal roots. This collection celebrates individuality and self-expression with an effortless style, and is made from the finest luxe leather, furs and fabrics.
We adore that Stephan Caras is a father and son duo that celebrates expression and beauty. Known for their evening wear, this generational team will bring us dramatic pieces filled with chic sensuality and timeless sophistication.
